An exterior renovation for a private-membership cigar bar in Weston Town Center. The scope centered on opening up a concrete block wall to install a large bifold slider door, connecting the interior lounge to a brand-new outdoor pergola area. We coordinated structural engineering for two new poured columns and a header, worked with the City of Weston to relocate existing landscaping, and poured a new concrete slab with footings to support the pergola structure — complete with lighting and ceiling fans for year-round comfort.
Smoke on the Water needed to expand their private members-only cigar lounge to the exterior — but the space was locked behind a solid concrete block wall with no access point. The first challenge was structural: cutting a large opening through the block wall, pouring two new concrete columns and a header to support the load, and fitting the opening with a bifold slider door that could open the interior directly to the outdoors.
With the opening handled, we worked with the City of Weston on permitting to relocate the existing landscaping and pour a new concrete slab with footings sized to support the pergola structure. The pergola was custom-built and fitted with lighting and ceiling fans to make the outdoor space usable year-round in South Florida's climate.
The result is a seamless indoor-outdoor transition for the bar's private membership — the bifold door opens completely, extending the lounge into a shaded, ventilated outdoor area that feels like a natural extension of the interior space.
